NAVM is a nonprofit membership association based in Omaha, NE. In the early 1970’s, the Omaha area veterinarians recognized a need for high quality, local small animal continuing education. A group of Omaha area veterinarians started the Greater Omaha Veterinary Medical Association to fill that need and provide a social atmosphere for veterinarians. As the organization expanded, the name was changed to the Nebraska Academy of Veterinary medicine. The continuing education events were originally held at the Regency Lodge, then the Henry Doorly Zoo and eventually moved to the Nebraska Humane Society in the 1990’s.

Today the NAVM has a membership of 200+ veterinarians and 300+ veterinary technicians.
